Seeds for Kids

The 2025 Seeds for Kids program provided 888 children across Dodge County with seed packets and an informational flyer about pollinators. The project focuses on second graders, but in schools with combined classrooms—or in smaller rural schools—seeds were shared with multiple grades or with the entire school. Distribution took place in April aligning with Earth Day activities.

Participating districts included Beaver Dam, Watertown, Mayville, Juneau, Horicon, Waupun, Randolph, Lomira, and Iron Ridge.

Preparation included sorting seed packets and creating a new pollinator‑themed flyer. Volunteers assisted with sorting, printing, and assembling materials, and thank‑you cards were sent to those who helped with the project.

Master Gardener volunteers contacted schools, coordinated student counts, and delivered the seed packets and flyers to each district.

The Seeds for Kids program continues to spark curiosity about gardening and pollinators among young learners. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the support of Dodge County schools, hundreds of children each year have the opportunity to plant seeds, learn about nature, and experience the joy of watching something grow.
