Dodge & Fond du Lac County Farmland Frolic
The 2025 Farmland Frolic marked the inaugural year of this new community event, created to bring local agricultural farms and businesses together for a day of showcasing their products, talents, and passion for Wisconsin agriculture. The self‑paced, family‑friendly, and free tour featured twelve unique stops, offering attendees the chance to explore an alpaca farm, enjoy local cheese tastings, sample fresh fruit, discover garden goodies, and more.
With no physical location of our own, we were grateful to Mayberry Farms in Mayville for generously hosting our setup on July 12. Their support allowed us to fully participate and connect with visitors throughout the day.
Our space included:
Organizational information: Details about who we are and what we do.
Educational materials: Resources on pollinators, invasive plants, and sustainable gardening.
Kids’ creativity table: A long roll of paper with crayons, markers, and colored pencils invited children to draw what they might find in a garden. Their artwork featured strawberries, watermelon, bees, and other garden favorites. Fun facts about ladybugs, dragonflies, butterflies, and bees lined the table’s edges, adding an educational twist.
To keep visitors moving and engaged, we set up both the Wheel of Knowledge and Plinko game. Each included two sets of questions—one for adults and one for children—covering a wide range of gardening topics. These activities sparked conversations, encouraged learning, and helped us connect with attendees of all ages.
Throughout the day, we interacted with many visitors, answering questions, sharing gardening tips, and helping families explore new ideas. The event offered a wonderful opportunity to build relationships, promote environmental awareness, and celebrate the joy of gardening.
