Bee Lawns: Pollinator Lawns that are Eco-Friendly and Easy to Maintain

  • Waupun Public Library 123 S Forest St Waupun, WI United States (map)

Bee Lawns, also called Pollinator Lawns are low input, intentionally managed lawns, that are beneficial to the environment and homeowners alike. They consist of turfgrass mixed with forbs and/or legumes with flowers that pollinators can forage for nectar and pollen.  They are managed using less fertilizer, less water and less herbicides, but still have a very usable lawn. Start with just a portion of the landscape and adjust as time and resources allow.

Presented by Carol Shirk a Master Gardener for 30 years.  Raised on a dairy farm in Indiana where her family grew most of what they ate, she has been gardening for more years than she cares to remember.  She is an active member of Dodge County Master Gardner Association and enjoys every opportunity to help others learn to garden.
